ReinventED
ReinventED is on a mission to transform emergency departments. Our goal is clear: to cut patient wait times, improve care, and save lives. We achieve this by revolutionizing triage, lightening the load on nurses and doctors, and ensuring continuous patient monitoring. Our vision is to empower hospitals to serve their communities better, saving time, money, and ultimately, lives. Together, we redefine emergency care for a brighter and healthier future.
The Problem
Many hospitals are facing their highest ED boarding times in modern history. Attempts to solve this problem, including restructuring the triage process and having medical professionals in the early stages of patient onboarding have had little actual effect on patient wait times. This is often dangerous, as ill patients in the ED can get much more sick or even die while waiting to be seen by a doctor. In many cases, the patients’ symptoms are not able to be visually detected, so doctors do not prioritize their treatment. Additionally, due to the infrequent contact between physicians and patients in the ED, patient satisfaction in the ED is generally low.
Our Solution
We want to better streamline emergency triage in emergency departments and catch hidden but deadly ailments in waiting rooms. ReinventED plans to do this by using an automated kiosk to help patients fill out medical paperwork and take important vitals. This kiosk will be able to detect if a patient is having a non visible symptom of a potentially dangerous condition by using EKG, blood pressure, and blood oxygen readings, which would help physicians select patients to prioritize in the waiting room. In addition, the kiosk will be able to measure weight, BMI, respiratory rate, and other health information.
About Us

Eric Lee is a second-year from New Jersey at the University of Pennsylvania studying biochemistry and biophysics. He developed the idea for ReinventED after witnessing peers be subjected to overly long wait times in the emergency department and learning about irreversible patient deterioration. He hopes to use his experience in public health and clinical settings to find patient-centered and physician-centered solutions. In his free time, Eric enjoys running, playing the violin, and hanging out with his friends.

Jeff Ren is a sophomore at UPenn studying Majoring in Biology and minoring in healthcare management, neuroscience, and economics. His interest in biotechnology and public health brought him to ReinventED, where he hopes to improve the quality of service realized by patients. Jeff hopes to marry his backgrounds in research and EMS to develop healthcare solutions. Outside of ReinventED, Jeff is a member of the judo team and enjoys going to the gym and playing soccer.

Will is a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Health and Societies. Will joined ReinventED through his desire to create healthcare solutions to patient issues in hospital settings. He is hoping to bring his experience as an EMT to provide a voice for overlooked issues in the EMS field through ReinventED. Will enjoys playing ice hockey, playing the cello, and biking with his friends.

Jayden Shin is a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a major in Neuroscience and a minor in Healthcare Management. Through intersecting his work in research and consulting, he hopes to enhance the healthcare landscape. Beyond ReinventED, he plays tennis for the club team, the cello in chamber, and loves to cafe-hop with friends.
